Greenpeace Netherlands has released secret documents from the EU-Japan Free Trade Agreement (JEFTA) to promote public debate on what could be the EU’s biggest trade deal ever. Until now, the European Commission has refused to publish these documents and show us what is being negotiated in our name.
The leaked papers on this site underline the strong objections civil society and millions of people around the world have voiced: JEFTA will be a huge transfer of power from people to big business.
In May, September and November 2016, Greenpeace Netherlands also released secret negotiation documents of the TTIP and TiSA trade deals. We have done so to provide much needed transparency and trigger an informed debate on the treaty. These deals are threatening to have far reaching implications for the environment and the lives of more than two billion citizens globally.
